Op zaterdag 1 oktober gaan de voetjes van de vloer met een bal in Rotterdam in het Maaspodium. Een internationaal bal deze keer met topmuzikant Jeroen Laureyssens uit België en een bijzonder trio uit Zweden. Ook deze keer weer een dansworkshop vooraf, gericht op onder andere de Slängpolska en diverse andere Zweedse dansen. Kijk hier voor alle informatie over de workshop.

Jeroen Laureyssens is een multi-getalenteerde Belgische diatonische accordeon speler. Hij speelde al op zesjarige leeftijd muziek en komt uit een muzikale familie. Musiceren, bijzondere composities maken en improvisatie zijn een belangrijk onderdeel van zijn muzikale leven. Hij speelt onder andere in Les Frères d’Eeckère, Duo Brabants-Laureyssens, Cosmo en The Quest.

Het Trio Västanvinden (ook wel ‘De Westenwind) speelt groovy trad muziek uit Zweden en andere Noordse landen. De ongebruikelijke mix van instrumenten, namelijk harmonica, klarinet en citer, geeft het trio een uniek, eigen geluid en doet een frisse wind waaien door de traditionele tunes. De sterke connectie tussen traditionele muzike en dans is fundamenteel voor de muzikale benadering van het trio en ze spelen daarom graag live voor dansers. De groep is opgericht aan het Royal College of Music in Stokcholm, waar de leden alledrie hebben gestudeerd. Hun debuutalbum is in oktober 2021 gepresenteerd. 

Dansworkshop
Voorafgaand aan het bal zal er ook een dansworkshop zijn, gegeven door Västanvinden zelf. De informatie over deze workshop vind je hier.

Dansuitleg
De dansuitleg is bedoeld om weer even in te komen voor als je al een poosje niet gedanst hebt, of als je de eerste pasjes alvast onder de knie wil krijgen. Iedereen is uiteraard welkom om mee te dansen.

Picknick
Er staat ook een picknick gepland. Breng daarvoor voor jezelf (en één of twee anderen) wat lekkers te eten mee, wat op één grote tafel wordt verzameld, zodat we met z’n allen een heerlijke maaltijd zullen hebben. Het is handig om eigen bord en bestek mee te nemen, dat is niet aanwezig op de locatie zelf.

Locatie
Het is de tweede keer dat we een bal geven in het Maaspodium in Rotterdam. Deze locatie vind je aan de Sint-Jobsweg 3 in Rotterdam. Er is een mooie danszaal en een gezellige bar en foyer waar behalve dansen ook wat bijgekomen en gekletst kan worden. Metrostation Coolhaven is op een kleine 10-15 minuten lopen afstand, er stopt ook een tram vlakbij. Op zondag is voor zover bekend straatparkeren gratis. Er is ook een parkeergarage vlakbij. Deze donderdag 16 maart is is het socialles nr 258. Deze week geven Tessel en Xander een introductie in de Valdresspringar, een dans uit Noorwegen. Voor de leiders betekent dat koppige bokkensprongen en voor de volgers magnifiek draaiwerk! Socialles
Het concept van een socialles is dat er het eerste uur een les of workshop wordt gegeven door een enthousiaste danser of docent over een specifieke dans of thema en dat in de 1,5 uur daarna de tijd is om vrij te dansen op cdmuziek. Uiteraard is er ook volop gelegenheid om te socialisen tijdens het deel vrij dansen.

Gezamenlijk eten
Vooraf mee-eten is ook mogelijk. Vanaf 18.30 uur ben je welkom in de keuken van De Banier, waarop er een warme maaltijd gekookt en gegeten wordt tot om 19.30 uur de socialles begint. Meehelpen met koken mag en kan natuurlijk. Mee-eten kost 3 euro per persoon, per keer, cash te betalen. Vooraf doorgeven dat je mee-eet is wel handig, dat kan het beste via balfolkzuidholland@gmail.com, tot uiterlijk woensdag 17.00 uur. Geef dan ook direct allergieën of intoleranties door, dan houden we daar rekening mee.

Locatie
Je kunt ons vinden bij De Banier, gevestigd op Banierstraat 1, in Rotterdam. Deze locatie is op ongeveer tien minuten lopen vanaf Centraal Station Rotterdam. Parkeren in de directe omgeving is betaald tot 23.00 uur ‘s avonds. Verderop in de wijk is het wel gratis, dan moet je dus wel een stukje lopen. Check prettigparkeren.nl voor de mogelijkheden.

Zaalregels
In de danszaal mogen geen buitenschoenen, zorg dus dat je schoenen bij je hebt die niet buiten worden gedragen zoals dansschoenen of dans op blote voeten of op sokken. Eten in de danszaal is ook niet toegestaan.

Nøkkenoc bestaat uit Aina Tulier (nyckelharpa, zang) en Sylvain Pool (cister, gitaar, zang) die elkaar in Occitanië ontmoetten. Ze zorgen voor een wonderlijk samenspel van Scandinavische en Occitaanse muziek: ze laten onze voeten dansen dankzij groovy muziek met grenzeloze invloeden, een frisse smaak van Zweden en de sterke smaak van Occitaanse kaas. Op het menu staan de gebruikelijke balfolkdansen, plús rondeau, congo, branle, polska, slängpolska, halling en meer!

L’Air Inconnu is Fabien Bucher (gitaar, mandoline, zang), Dani Velasco (viool, zang) en Sylvain Pool (accordeon, gitaar, kick, zang). De band brengt ons muzikale creaties gebaseerd op hedendaagse en traditionele dans, nieuwsgierige oren, en dieren en planten, zowel wild als getemd. Hun composities en arrangementen van traditionele thema's worden geïnspireerd door emoties en sensaties tijdens de bals en festivals: het plezier van de ontmoeting, intieme poëzie, de aanstekelijkheid van muziek, lichaamsenergie en -beweging, collectieve trans, …. Wij verheugen ons immens op dit trio, dat van elk bal een fantastisch feestje weet te maken.

Ben je een nieuwe danser? Om 15:00 beginnen wij met een uurtje dansuitleg! Entree: Regulier €20, korting €15 (indien je minder te besteden hebt). Betalen kan contant of via een QR-code. Reserveren is niet nodig, er zijn altijd genoeg kaartjes beschikbaar.

Tijdens het bal is er een gezellige picknick. Neem hiervoor vooral wat lekkers mee, dan delen we dat met z'n allen. Vergeet je bordje, bestek en opscheplepels niet. Een waterfles is ook een aanrader. Neem zelf geen andere dingen mee, de bar verkoopt genoeg lekkere drankjes!

Deze donderdag 28 maart is het socialles nr 296. Docent deze week zijn Wim en Leora. We gaan aan de slag met de polska zoals deze in balfolk gedanst wordt. Geen eenvoudige dans, en meters maken is het advies, maar de stapjes en techniek goed onder de knie krijgen is fijn. Dit is de eerste van twee lessen, volgende week de volgende. Socialles
Het concept van een socialles is dat er het eerste uur een les of workshop wordt gegeven door een enthousiaste danser of docent over een specifieke dans of thema en dat in de 1,5 uur daarna de tijd is om vrij te dansen op cdmuziek. Uiteraard is er ook volop gelegenheid om te socialisen tijdens het deel vrij dansen.

Gezamenlijk eten
Vooraf mee-eten is ook mogelijk. Vanaf 18.30 uur ben je welkom in de keuken van De Banier, waarop er een warme maaltijd gekookt en gegeten wordt tot om 19.30 uur de socialles begint. Meehelpen met koken mag en kan natuurlijk. Mee-eten kost 3 euro per persoon, per keer, cash te betalen. Vooraf doorgeven dat je mee-eet is wel handig, dat kan het beste via balfolkzuidholland@gmail.com, tot uiterlijk woensdag 17.00 uur. Geef dan ook direct allergieën of intoleranties door, dan houden we daar rekening mee.

Locatie
Je kunt ons vinden bij De Banier, gevestigd op Banierstraat 1, in Rotterdam. Deze locatie is op ongeveer tien minuten lopen vanaf Centraal Station Rotterdam. Parkeren in de directe omgeving is betaald tot 23.00 uur ‘s avonds. Verderop in de wijk is het wel gratis, dan moet je dus wel een stukje lopen. Check prettigparkeren.nl voor de mogelijkheden.

Zaalregels
In de danszaal mogen geen buitenschoenen, zorg dus dat je schoenen bij je hebt die niet buiten worden gedragen zoals dansschoenen of dans op blote voeten of op sokken. Eten in de danszaal is ook niet toegestaan.

Dansen is altijd een feestje.
Dansen met live muziek is dubbel feest.
En Zweeds dansen met live muziek is wat ons betreft een nog groter feest.

Op deze zondagmiddag kun je lekker zwieren en zweven op de dansvloer met dansen zoals hambo, schottis, diverse polskor en wals.

Na een drie heerlijke middagen met muziek van Duo Noordwest in oktober en Sparv in december en een bruisende middag in februari met meer dan 10 muzikanten, is het deze keer de beurt aan de Hunebend.

De Hunebend bestaat uit Michele van Baaren en Marieke van der Hoek op viool en Joke Bakker op cello. Zij spelen prachtige Zweedse dansmuziek, traditioneel én eigen creaties, die je later thuis ook kunt beluisteren op hun CD Bortlängtan.

In het eerste deel van deze middag (ca. 3 kwartier) zullen er een aantal basispassen van verschillende Zweedse dansen worden uitgelegd. Na iedere uitleg kan deze dans dan door iedereen gedanst of verder geoefend worden.
NB. het is géén apart workshop-blok. We verweven de uitleg in het bal, zodat iedereen vanaf het begin mee kan doen.
